Home visit policy

Our policy is in place to ensure we maintain safe and good quality care for our registered patients whilst taking into consideration the rising demands, clinician safety, access to equipment and facilities to best assess patients, which is usually at the practice.

Home visits are reserved for patients who are terminally ill or truly bedbound.

All patients other than this will be expected to attend the surgery.

Common problems such as cough, poor mobility, joint pain, general malaise, back pain, abdominal pain and abnormal test results are readily transportable by friends, relatives, car or taxi.

While it is understood that having poor mobility is inconvenient and unpleasant GP surgeries are designed to cater for patients with restricted mobility. If patients are able to attend appointments at other healthcare settings then they should also be expected to attend appointments in GP surgeries.

Tamworth Community Transport services are a voluntary organisation taking clients to medical appointments. You can contact them in the following ways:

It is not the practice’s responsibility to arrange transport.
