Patient Participation Group (PPG) News Letter December 2017 Welcome to the Laurel House Surgery Patient Participation Group
Laurel House Surgery is eager to ensure that local people are actively involved in deciding how the health services they use should develop. To provide patients with the opportunity to express their views, we have set up the Laurel House Surgery Patient Participation Group.
The aim of the group is to give patients, GP's and practice staff an opportunity to meet, to exchange ideas and information, and then to take action. Our group's activities aim to include: holding health information events; consulting with patients on their experiences and on how services could be changed or improved; producing a newsletter to keep patients up to date on the activities of the group and the services the practice offers and much more.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to join the group, as long as you are registered with the practice and interested in working together to make positive changes for the practice and its patients. CQC and Laurel House Surgery
v All GP practices are now regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC)
v All GP practices must now be registered with the CQC
v Laurel House are fully registered with the Care Quality Commission Registration Date: 01.04.2013. Registration Certificate: CRT1-549054046
v CQC Check to make sure the Practice meets national standards of Quality and Safety
v CQC will listen to views and experiences of patients of the Practice
v The Practice Patient Participation Group (PPG) is considered to be a valuable source of information about patients’ views and experiences
v CQC will make a Scheduled inspection – normally this inspection is made, giving the practice 48 hours notice but it can be carried out at anytime, without giving any period of notice, if there are thought to be serious concerns
v The inspection process will last a complete day
v CQC inspectors may choose to do a ‘Themed’ inspection, looking at a specific theme, related to a nationally recognised issue
v On a Scheduled or Themed inspection, CQC inspectors will require contact details of two members of the Patient Participation Group (PPG), this will include the Chair and one other member of the group
v The inspector will contact these two members and invite them to provide a views or comments about experiences of patient care at the practice e.g. Comments on standards of quality and safety, survey results of patients’ views, specific areas or any other work being carried out at the practice to gather patients’ views
